The Higher-Concentration Option — For Adult Cats and Higher-Dose Protocols

What This Product Is

FipDr™ GS-441524 30mg/ml is the higher-concentration injectable formulation in our product range. It contains the same active antiviral compound — GS-441524 — as our 20mg/ml formulation, at the same pharmaceutical grade.

The total administered dose (calculated in mg per kg of body weight) is identical across concentrations. Concentration does not determine efficacy. It determines injection volume — and injection volume determines both dosing precision and how well your cat tolerates a daily subcutaneous injection.

Why Concentration Matters for Larger Cats

FIP dosing is calculated in mg/kg, so a heavier cat needs more milligrams per day in absolute terms.

At a lower concentration, that same milligram dose has to be delivered in a larger volume. Large subcutaneous volumes sting more, take longer to inject, and are harder to give consistently over 84 consecutive days — which is when owners start missing or splitting doses.

For example, a 5 kg cat on an 8 mg/kg protocol needs 40 mg per day:

  • At 20mg/ml → 2.0 ml per injection

  • At 30mg/ml → 1.33 ml per injection

Over an 84-day course, that difference compounds into meaningfully better tolerance and better adherence.

In FIP treatment, consistent dosing across the full 84-day protocol is critical:

  • Underdosing may delay clinical response and increase the risk of viral persistence

  • Missed or split doses increase the risk of relapse

The 30mg/ml formulation keeps the daily injection volume manageable in cats where a lower concentration would require an uncomfortably large volume.

Indicated Cases

This formulation is appropriate for:

  • Adult cats weighing more than 2.5 kg

  • Standard first-line FIP protocols in cats 2.5–5 kg

  • Higher-dose protocols (ocular, neurological, relapse) where daily milligram requirements are high

  • Larger cats where a lower concentration would require an impractical injection volume

This Formulation Is Not the First Choice For

  • Cats weighing less than 2.5 kg → the 20mg/ml formulation is more appropriate

  • Kittens → the 20mg/ml formulation gives a larger, easier-to-measure volume at low doses

  • Any case where the calculated daily volume falls below about 0.2 ml, where measurement error becomes significant

A 0.05 ml deviation in a 0.2 ml injection is a 25% dosing error. If your cat's calculated dose lands in that range, use the 20mg/ml formulation instead.

Clinical Background

GS-441524 is a nucleoside analogue that acts as an inhibitor of RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp).

Following cellular uptake and intracellular phosphorylation to its active triphosphate form, it is incorporated into viral RNA, leading to premature chain termination and inhibition of viral replication.

Its efficacy in treating FIP was demonstrated in a 2019 study by Pedersen et al., followed by extensive real-world clinical use across many thousands of cases globally.

The 30mg/ml formulation contains the same pharmaceutical-grade GS-441524 as all FipDr™ injectable products. Differences in concentration reflect clinical usability and injection volume, not product quality.

Concentration Selection Guide

Concentration

Primary Use Case

20mg/ml

Kittens · Cats under 2.5 kg · Low-dose precision

30mg/ml (this product)

Cats 2.5 kg and over · Standard first-line FIP · Higher-dose ocular, neurological and relapse protocols

Administration

  • Route: Subcutaneous injection

  • Frequency: Once daily

  • Dose: Calculated in mg/kg based on current body weight

  • Standard treatment duration: 84 consecutive days without interruption

Dose adjustments should only be made under veterinary supervision.

Early clinical response is typically observed within the first 7 days, including:

  • Improved appetite

  • Reduction in fever

  • Increased activity

If no response is observed within 7 days, further evaluation is recommended before discontinuation.

Quality and Sourcing

FipDr™ injectable formulations are produced to pharmaceutical-grade standards, including:

  • Verified API sourcing

  • Concentration accuracy testing

  • Stability validation

Each batch undergoes quality control prior to release to ensure consistency and reliability. Batch documentation is available upon request for veterinary or compliance purposes.
